Missouri Preservation annually honors individuals, groups and organizations that have contributed to the preservation of Missouri's rich and diverse collection of historic resources. Awards are given to outstanding projects in commercial and residential rehabilitation, neighborhood revitalization, landscape protection and archaeology.
The Rozier Award is given annually by Missouri Preservation to an individual who has made significant contributions in the field of historic preservation in Missouri. The award itself is named after Elizabeth Rozier and her late husband, George. It is Missouri Preservation's most prestigious and coveted award.
The Osmund Overby Award was established in 2003 to recognize written works which contribute to the documentation and interpretation of Missouri's architectural history. It is named in honor of Dr. Osmund Overby, art history professor emeritus, and former head of the historic preservation program at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dr. Overby is also a founding member of Missouri Preservation. He was the organization's first president in 1976 and served on the Board of Directors from 1976-2003. For more than a quarter of a century, he has been a nationally known leader in the historic preservation field.
The Preserve Missouri Awards recognize outstanding efforts and projects around the state, and illustrate the diversity of historic preservation issues. Awards recognize a variety of projects including commercial and residential rehabilitation, landscape, archeology, and advocacy.
